La Mama Theatre acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Victoria and Australia and pays respects to their Elders past and present. Aboriginal self-determination is a human right and we recognise the hard work of many generations of Aboriginal people who have fought for this right to be upheld. Always Was and Always Will Be Aboriginal Land. Sovereignty has never been and will never be ceded.

BARRY LEONARD DICKINS
We were so very sad to hear of the passing of the inimitable Barry Dickins. A man whose trailblazing works often graced the La Mama stages, he made an indelible mark on Melbourne’s art scene for many years. His first play, a translation of Ibsen’s GHOSTS was presented by La Mama in 1974, and he wrote, performed, mentored and so much more across decades. Our love to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who will miss him and his art.
La Mama’s Maureen Hartley remembers Barry fondly in this tribute.

We are deeply sorry to hear about Rachel Burke’s passing. She was not only a highly acclaimed, award-winning lighting designer, she was a contributor of the highest level to the theatre industry across all spaces, including the independent sector. She brought encouragement, joy and a generosity of spirit to all who worked with her. Our thoughts are with her family, loved ones, colleagues and collaborators.
