Romi Peles Embraces Emotional Upheaval on Hypnotic New Single “BABY BUNNY”

Romi Peles returns with “BABY BUNNY”, the lead single from Break Up Album Vol. 2, a record forged in emotional upheaval and creative urgency. Blurring the lines between psychedelic trip-hop, funk-pop, and lo-fi textures, the track explores the illusions and ambivalence of romance with a balance of playfulness and underlying tension. It’s a fluid, shape-shifting release that captures Peles at his most instinctive and unguarded.

Driven by taut basslines, propulsive grooves, and finely detailed production, “BABY BUNNY” unfolds with the feel of a late-night confession. Midway through, the track pivots, tempo easing, textures softening, sliding into a hazier, introspective second act. The dynamic shift adds depth and movement, reinforcing Peles’ ability to merge melodic immediacy with experimental sensibility. While its off-kilter pop leanings may echo artists such as King Krule and Conan Mockasin, the result remains distinctly his own.

Break Up Album Vol. 2 follows 2025’s Break Up Album, further cementing Peles’ move toward vocal-led, confessional songwriting. Written and produced in the midst of personal transition, the record channels themes of familial fracture and romantic loss into raw, groove-driven compositions. Rather than smoothing over emotional fault lines, Peles leans into vulnerability, allowing instinct and immediacy to shape the sound.

Now based in Tel Aviv, the San Francisco–born composer and producer has consistently resisted genre constraints. From his minimalist classical debut Old Scrapbook (2014) to the socially charged Digital Dystopia (2024), his catalogue reflects constant evolution. With a live band anchored by Max Oleartchik (bass) and Ran Liani (drums), his current work pulses with warmth and rhythmic vitality while maintaining its experimental core.

“BABY BUNNY” stands as a compelling introduction to this new chapter, restless, melodic, and emotionally exposed. It positions Romi Peles as an artist willing to confront change head-on, translating personal rupture into inventive, forward-thinking pop.
