FRIDAY 10 DECEMBER

yarraville live: new shows & new dates 2021 and beyondTHE BLACK SORROWS

WITH SPECIAL GUEST MIKE ELRINGTON

Any examination of The Black Sorrows comes down to one person, Joe Camilleri frontman and the brains behind the band. Recently awarded “living legend” status by Rolling Stone, Joe’s career spans an astonishing 50+ years. As a singer, songwriter, saxophonist and producer Joe Camilleri is considered one of the most genuinely talented figures in Australian music still at the top of his game.

Songs such as So Young, Hit And Run, Shape I’m In, Hold On To Me, Harley and Rose, Chained To The Wheel, Never Let Me Go and The Chosen Ones have become radio staples. As leader of two of Australia’s most successful bands, Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons and The Black Sorrows, Joe’s music has become part of Australian music culture.  Joe was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2007. Over the years other greats have admired Camilleri’s songwriting. Elvis Costello and John Denver are just two who have recorded cover versions of Joe’s music.

Camilleri launched The Black Sorrows, a loose band of like-minded musicians, in 1984 following the demise of his seminal band Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons the year before. From humble beginnings playing inner-city cafes around Melbourne and selling albums from the boot of a car, Camilleri transformed The Black Sorrows into one of the most sophisticated ensembles in the country. The independently released album Dear Children, represented a turning point once CBS/Sony stepped in with a world-wide deal. When radio picked up the classic track, Mystified, The Black Sorrows really took flight releasing multi-platinum sellers Hold On To Me, Harley & Rose and The Chosen Ones. The Black Sorrows have won the ARIA for Best Band, played sell-out shows across Europe and sold more than two million albums worldwide.

The Black Sorrows still average 150 shows a year and since 2014 have included Europe on their touring schedule. In keeping with Joe’s penchant for continually moving forward, the newest version of The Black Sorrows is a formidable one – Claude Carranza (guitar/vocals), Mark Gray (bass/vocals), James Black (keyboards/vocals) and Tony Floyd (drums).

SATURDAY 19 FEBRUARY

yarraville live: new shows & new dates 2021 and beyondGLENN SHORROCK

With a career spanning over 40 years, Glenn Shorrock is one of the elder statesmen of Australian contemporary show business. Late 1974, Glenn returned to Melbourne to help form Little River Band as lead singer. Little River Band cracked the lucrative United States market in 1976, and began a string of eight Top Ten Hits in the U.S.A. and around the world.  The band has sold in excess of 25 million albums, often being credited for opening the door for many Australian acts on the international circuit.

In 1995, Glenn fronted Little River Band during their 20th anniversary, three and a half-month tour of the US. His songwriting credits include the international hits Help is on its Way, Emma, Home on Monday (co-writer Beeb Birtles), Long Jumping Jeweler, Shut Down Turn Off, My Own Way Home (co-writer Brian Cadd) and Cool Change.

Glenn continues to work regularly with contemporaries including Doug Parkinson, Wendy Matthews and Brian Cadd. He also regularly performs on behalf of various charities and continues as an ambassador for Variety. As a testament to his enduring talent he has been twice inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame first in 1991 in his own right and again with The Little River Band in 2004.

On 9 September, 2016 Glenn released his first album in many years, “Rise Again” through SOCIAL FAMILY RECORDS. A collection of songs composed by himself and a few friends. Shortly after, Glenn published his auto biography ‘Now Where Was I?” through New Holland Publishers. A beautifully presented hard back that contains many personal and professional photographs from Glenn’s life. And in March 2019, Glenn (through Social Family Records) released his most recent album ‘Glenn Shorrock Sings Little River Band’ which features ten of LRB’s greatest hits, brilliantly re-imagined by Shorrock and produced and recorded live in studio by Steve Balbi along with an outstanding array of musicians who joined Shorrock to record the album.

“I have been blessed with a long and successful career and I’m doing some of my best work right at the moment” says Glenn.

FRIDAY 18 MARCH – NEW DATE

yarraville live: new shows & new dates 2021 and beyondRUSSELL MORRIS

WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOE MATERA

It all started of course over 50 years ago when Russell Morris became the first Australian artist to score consecutive number one singles with his first two releases – ‘The Real Thing’, which is one of the classic psychedelic singles of all time, and ‘Part Three Into Paper Walls’. Both reached #1 on the Australian chart, and what followed has become one of the most remarkable stories in contemporary Australian music.

Fast forward to 2012, when Russell began a trilogy of albums, each with a theme of Australian stories. The first, Sharkmouth, is a collection of tracks about the Australia of the 1920s + 30s. The album reached #6 on the ARIA Chart, and is certified platinum.  Then came Van Diemen’s Land in 2014 which focused on events rather than stories of individuals. From the prison ships that began Australia as a penal settlement, to the union strikes, the 1st and 2nd World Wars, Van Diemen’s Land covers a vast array of Australian history.

And in 2015 Russell released Red Dirt – Red Heart, with amazing musical stories with unique Australian themes which won the coveted Best Blues And Roots Album at the 2016 ARIA Awards.  And through it all, Russell remains one of the hardest working musicians in the country. For some Artists a new album can almost write itself after almost six decades on the road but it takes a rare combination of talent and circumstances to realise that vision as vividly and succinctly as Russell Morris does on his latest album Black And Blue Heart.

SATURDAY 19 MARCH – SELLING FAST

yarraville live: new shows & new dates 2021 and beyondDIESEL – SOLO BY REQUEST

Following the release of his ARIA #10 album SUNSET SUBURBIA and also a greatest hits package – 30: THE GREATEST HITS, Diesel is stripping back into solo mode and heading around the country to tour DIESEL – TAILORED SET – SOLO BY REQUEST.

A show where the audience plays the main part in forming the set list for the night – they make the song choices creating a TAILORED SET.  How it works…From a list of songs posted prior via Diesel’s website, the audience make their song selections. The set list for the evening then gets formulated based on these choices.

Song choices posted will span from the first album ‘Johnny Diesel & The Injectors’ (1989) through to SUNSET SUBURBIA (2020), along with picks from some of Diesel’s favourite artists – Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix & Otis Redding and Muddy Waters to name just a few…The idea of letting the audience ‘hand pick’ the songs makes for a spontaneous night of select music.  With a career spanning over 3 decades, seventeen albums and a swag of ARIA awards, Diesel has the skills of a tailor to make a bespoke night of song.

SATURDAY 4 JUNE – NEW DATE

yarraville live: new shows & new dates 2021 and beyondTHE U2 SHOW- ACHTUNG BABY

PRESENT “ZOO TV: LIVE FROM SYDNEY”

November 1991. The Berlin Wall comes crashing down. The Cold War is over. Irish rock band U2 release their seminal album ‘Achtung Baby’.

After spearing their way through the 80’s with albums ‘The Joshua Tree’ and ‘Rattle and Hum’, Bono and co. come back bigger (and more industrial sounding) than ever. Blending hits such as ‘One’ and ‘Mysterious Ways’ with fan favourites such as ‘Love Is Blindness’ alongside the world’s first use of video screens, the 90’s would never be the same. To say that U2 broke ground with ‘Achtung Baby’ (and it’s subsequent ‘ZooTV’) world tour is an understatement.

To top this all off, one of the last concerts on the ‘ZooTV’ world tour was filmed in Sydney, Australia. This concert, titled ‘ZooTV: Live from Sydney’ was a massive success. And to celebrate this fan favourite, “The U2 Show Achtung Baby” is bringing their one-off ‘ZooTV: Live from Sydney’ show to Yarraville Live.   Just as their loyal fans have come to expect during the life of their 20 years in the business, this show will feature impressive note for note renditions of all the songs from the ‘U2 ZooTV: Live from Sydney’.

Tix:              2 Course Dinner & Show $81.50 + bf, Reserved A Seating – Front $40+bf, Reserved B Seating – Rear $32 + bf, G.A.$25+ bf, Door $30 (if available).

SATURDAY 9 JULY – JUST ANNOUNCED

yarraville live: new shows & new dates 2021 and beyondNO QUARTER (USA)

Led Zeppelin fans – be on notice. You are about to witness the legendary British super group in all its glory and excesses! Widely hailed as “the best Led Zeppelin band on the planet,” (Dennis D’Amico, Exec. Prod. Paul McCartney), No Quarter is pounding its way to Yarraville this July, all the way from Seattle US.

Rolling Stone magazine credited the band for keeping the Zeppelin spirit alive in a 2012 Collector’s Edition of Led Zeppelin. This is an authentic reproduction of Led Zeppelin’s ground breaking stage show, so faithfully recreated that original band member, John Paul Jones said that “I never have to worry about touring with my band again.”

No Quarter has been wowing audiences all over the world in their authentic tribute stage show for more than 15 years and has shared the stage with such legendary artists as Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Steppenwolf, Loverboy, Jefferson Starship and many others. Band members take on the characters of John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant and bring each of them to the stage in their absolute prime. Fans who have seen the original band will think they have returned and will have the opportunity to relive the magic. Fans who never had the chance to witness the supergroup won’t believe their luck and will finally get to experience the iconic and ground breaking stage show for the first time.
