JIN SEOK LEE
Inspired by the beauty of Jeju, the island he grew up on, Lee began his career making hyperrealist landscape paintings. As he became fascinated by how light effects constant change on what we see, he looked for a way to more accurately represent our experience of nature and started experimenting with materials. Working on custom-made steel plates, Lee went on to develop a pouring technique using epoxy resin to build up topographical layers. His latest series, From Colors, borrows from systems of representation such as mapmaking, how it uses colour to shape our understanding of the world, and constructs a tonal topography to explore the materiality of colour.

SO RA SHIN
Shin’s three-dimensional mixed-media works utilise lenticular forms and weaving techniques to symbolise our different facets: ‘the discrepancy between the me projected to others and the genuine me’. For Shin, the warp and weft threads that cross under and over each other are akin to how we build relationships and multiplicities of understanding, beyond right and wrong.
‘Our differences are, ironically, our blessing.’

CHAE RIM CHEO
Heo is obsessed with vessels: mugs, cups, tumblers, highball and wine and cocktail glasses, goblets, brandy balloons, champagne flutes and coupes… They take on an anthropomorphic quality in her playful paintings and animations, often placed in social as well as schematic relationships, setting scenes that tell stories or invite reflection. She sees their myriad forms as personalities and delights in composing interactions and making connections.
