Peppermint Heaven Explore the Past With the Technology of the Future in “Time To Say Goodbye”

What happens when a duo obsessed with the sounds of the past starts looking toward the future? In the case of Peppermint Heaven, the answer is never quite what you expect.

For more than a decade, the Los Angeles-based duo have been playing in the space between nostalgia and innovation, taking the sounds, styles and spirit of previous eras and giving them a distinctly modern pulse.

Now, they’re slowing things down.

Their new three-track EP, Time To Say Goodbye, finds Peppermint Heaven swapping the dancefloor for something altogether more intimate: classic pop, retro easy-listening, soaring melodies and the emotional territory of the power ballad.

It’s a change of pace but certainly not a change of identity.

“Another twist in the Peppermint Heaven story—a new three-song EP with a bit of a retro easy-listening vibe”, the duo explains.

And there’s plenty of story packed into those three songs.

Peppermint Heaven have never been particularly interested in standing still. Their recent singles “AI” and “Nothing More Than Love” saw the duo diving into the increasingly fascinating collision between music, technology and machine learning. Rather than treating AI as a novelty, they explored what happens when human creativity meets the tools shaping the next generation of music.

Time To Say Goodbye takes that conversation somewhere very different.

Instead of asking what music might sound like tomorrow, Peppermint Heaven are looking back and revisiting the warmth and theatricality of classic songwriting while bringing their own contemporary sensibility to it. It’s a fitting move for a band whose aesthetic has been built around making the old feel new again.

First up is “Paper Dreams”, a bright, bouncy pop track with a deceptively serious message. Beneath the upbeat surface sits a familiar dilemma: is it easier to dream about a better life than to actually do the uncomfortable work of changing it?

Then comes the title track.

“Time To Say Goodbye” is a hopeful love song that reaches back towards a simpler era of pop songwriting. There’s romance here, but not the overblown kind. Instead, Peppermint Heaven tap into the timeless appeal of a melody that feels as though it could have arrived from another decade — while still sounding completely at home in the present.

And then there’s “Be Who You Are”. This is Peppermint Heaven in full power-ballad mode, delivering an emotionally charged reminder that sometimes moving forward means finally letting go of what came before.

Taken together, the three tracks feel almost cinematic. There are dreams. There is love. There is loss. And, ultimately, there is the question of who you become when you stop looking backwards.

If the title sounds like a farewell, don’t be fooled. For Peppermint Heaven, saying goodbye might just be the beginning of another chapter.

Say hello to Time To Say Goodbye.
