Wiltshire songwriter and multi-instrumentalist JILG introduces his sound with “Remember”, a heartfelt and infectious debut single released October 2nd.
Built around bright electronics, jangling guitars and an anthemic melody, the track balances the scale of indie rock with a deeply personal emotional core. Produced by Matt Glasbey, whose credits include David Gilmour, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, alt-J and Maisie Peters, “Remember” has a polished, radio-ready quality without losing the intimacy at its centre.
Written about someone close to JILG’s family and their struggle with illness, the song avoids easy answers. Instead, it reflects on living alongside uncertainty and choosing to focus on what remains within reach.
“This song is about someone close in my family and their struggle with illness,” JILG explains. “It explores that struggle, the things we can’t control, and choosing instead to focus on what’s still within reach.”
That sense of emotional honesty runs through JILG’s wider songwriting. Raised in a working-class town in Wiltshire, Alexander Jilg draws on nostalgic rock influences while writing about relationships, loss, uncertainty and everyday life. His sound sits between contemporary indie rock and the storytelling tradition of artists such as Sam Fender and Bruce Springsteen.
Before launching JILG, he established himself within the UK alternative rock scene as part of FOURA.M, earning Spotify playlist placements, press coverage and radio play on SiriusXM with Simon Le Bon.
“Remember” marks the beginning of a new chapter, and the first release from JILG’s forthcoming debut EP. With further recordings produced by Glasbey and John Fortis in the works, the single offers a strong introduction to an artist building his sound around melody, atmosphere and personal storytelling.
