There’s something disarming about a love song that doesn’t hold anything back, and ‘Only 4 U’ is exactly that.
Karabo’s new single, out now, is built on a foundation of trust, both in the relationship it describes and in the collaborative process that created it.
Working alongside Tinashe and Tineke, Karabo found the track’s theme organically, letting the instrumental guide the writing rather than forcing a direction. The result is a song about total vulnerability with a partner, delivered with the same openness it describes. It’s a strong marker for where Karabo is heading next, an African artist taking a deeply personal sound to a wider stage.
Karabo first rose to national prominence as the winner of Idols South Africa Season 11, going on to share stages with Grammy-nominated artist Anthony Hamilton and collaborate with Grammy-winning gospel and soul icon Bebe Winans. He also made history as the first African artist to create a theme song for Disney Africa’s The Lion Guard. Now independent, Karabo continues to build on a successful radio tour through his home province of Mpumalanga, bringing his sound to UK, US and international audiences with ‘Only 4 U’.
