KYLIE MINOGUE TAKES OVER FLINDERS STREET AHEAD OF THE 2026 TOYOTA AFL GRAND FINAL
A new 13-storey mural featuring Kylie Minogue has been unveiled in the heart of Melbourne, ahead of her highly anticipated Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment performance at the Toyota AFL Grand Final.
The Princess of Pop visited the completed artwork on Flinders Street, as the city gears up for the biggest day on the sporting calendar.
Created by renowned Melbourne artist Adnate, in collaboration with Mushroom Creative House, the landmark street art piece has transformed the wall directly opposite Flinders Street Station, putting Kylie at the centre of one of Melbourne’s busiest spaces during Grand Final week.
The project was supported by Telstra, helping bring the temporary artwork to life as part of the celebrations surrounding this year’s Toyota AFL Grand Final and Kylie’s showstopping return to Melbourne, as one of Australia’s most successful and beloved artists.
Creating the monumental artwork was no easy task. It took Adnate and his expert team of just two other artists one week to paint the piece – using more than 150 cans of spray paint.
Adnate said: “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to achieve with this piece. Kylie is such a huge part of Melbourne’s cultural identity, so I wanted the artwork to celebrate her amazing career while capturing the excitement around the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final. This is definitely one of the most high-profile locations, of one of the most high-profile people I’ve ever painted.”
Mushroom Group Chief Executive Matt Gudinski said: “Kylie is one of the most recognisable stars this country has ever produced, the fact that she’s a proud Melburnian makes it even more special. Having her adorn this amazing mural overlooking the city is a fitting tribute, and I have no doubt her Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment performance will be one for the history books.”
Matt Adnate is one of the country’s most prolific large-scale street artists, known for his striking portraits and monumental public artworks across Australia and around the world, including his famed 20-storey mural on a housing commission building in Melbourne.
The Kylie mural is one of his most ambitious projects to date bringing together music, sport and Melbourne’s world-renowned street art scene.
The artwork is expected to remain in place for a minimum of eight weeks.
