Koto Kill is an artist who is the prime example of doing things differently. Influenced by French electro-discotheque, he juxtapositions this with chic voiceovers and commentary, to make for an unconventional yet captivating sound. ‘Téléphone Party’, taken from Koto Kill’s debut album ‘Fromage et Fashion’, was the first song written and portrays the most chic-murder in a tongue-in-cheek love letter to French cinema and electro-music.
Full of whirling synths and exploring themes of stereotypes with the ‘Femme Fatale’ lead – played by Louise Devismis, the music can lend itself to electronic music primarily, whilst also lending itself to electro-pop with that ‘edge’ to it.
‘Telephone Party’ is much like a film in the cinema, where it takes a bitter ending, as attentive listeners will hear subtle horror noises in the background of the song, foreshadowing the fate of the male lead towards its climax. The video is quite something too, check out Koto Kill’s unique sonic proposition and you won’t be disappointed.
