‘Stills from unmade films’ is a series of photographs made in the city streets of Melbourne, Adelaide and Paris. The work is photographed in a classic observational style that references my passion for cinema, both narrative and documentary, and of course street photography.
Cities are human environments, designed for an ordered urban life and I’m attracted to the way people move about and engage with these public spaces. The way we move, the clothing we wear, the paths we seek and the places we pause.
BIO
Brent Lukey (he/him) is a freelance professional photographer and visual artist. He regularly photographs portraits of artists and creatives.
His work has been a finalist in the Olive Cotton Award, Brussels Street Photography Festival, Moran Photographic Prize, Perc Tucker Photographic Portrait Prize, and the Australian Photography Awards.
He works from a studio in Southbank, Naarm/Melbourne. Fascinated by culture and storytelling, he studied Anthropology and Cinema Studies at La Trobe University, then Film and Multimedia at Swinburne University.
Back when music was released on vinyl he played in a cracking and o ensive punk rock band, he gave up rock music for 16mm film-making, won some impressive awards, but found the process expensive and slow.
Still photography – his teenage passion – eventually caught and took over!!
