Big, synth-driven and relentlessly forward-moving, ‘Errant Nodes’ is Kazimi’s most electronic statement to date. Where the Manchester duo’s earlier releases, ‘Storming Jupiter’ and ‘Mauve Coconut’, sat comfortably at the meeting point of jazz and dance music, this new single tips further towards the dancefloor: pumping, hook-driven and packed with momentum, while still carrying the odd-time complexity and improvisational spark that define Tom Chapman and Jon Needham’s writing.
The band describe the track’s creation as a genuine leap forward, built from a single idea expanded outward until it took in a wide range of moods and dynamics, held together by one continuous thread. That sense of structural ambition is audible throughout: a track confident enough to shift shape repeatedly without ever losing its centre.

It’s a release that also marks a slight but deliberate pivot away from the jazz influences more prominent in Kazimi’s earlier work, in favour of something more melodic and electronic, a shift the band say was never a conscious decision so much as where the song itself led them.
