First and foremost, we here at WOV HQ are over the moon to support our choirs being back! in 2022. We’re excited to have this great new start and looking forward to the year ahead achieving new heights and A LOT more singing and smiles together in person.

So far this year WOV Melbourne, WOV Break O’Day, WOV Brisbane, WOV Sydney and WOV Port Stephens, WOV Greater Dandenong, WOV Ballarat, WOV Ashburton, WOV Geelong, WOV St Kilda, WOV Bayswater, WOV Chatswood, WOV Ginninderry, WOV Gungahlin, WOV Mackay, WOV Perth, WOV Mt Druitt, WOV Nth East Victoria, WOV Adelaide CBD and WOV Redfern returned to rehearsal in-person and are in full swing – AND plans are underway to launch WOV Sunshine Coast, WOV Kingston and WOV Riverina very soon. What an achievement. Our huge thanks to everyone who have worked so well together and made this possible.

The most recent debut was WOV Whitehorse launching their wings on Tuesday night! With Chris Blain leading in song they welcomed many new choristers and everyone stayed for a long supper and chat afterwards. Great vibes, good conversation, and lots of serendipitous connections made!

On March 29 at 6pm we’ll be having our annual Soiree generously hosted by our Patron Lady Southey at her home ‘Cranlana‘. We always look forward to the event and hope we can raise some much needed $ to help our choirs remain as inclusive as possible. St Kilda choir – led by Daniel Brinsmead will lead this event.

Driftwood – The Musical tells the inspirational story of the renowned Austrian/Australian sculptor Karl Duldig and his artist/inventor wife, Slawa Horowitz-Duldig. We follow their lives in pre-war Vienna, Slawa’s ingenious invention of the foldable umbrella, and an incredible chain of events after miraculously escaping the Holocaust and rebuilding their careers as artists in Melbourne. A magical story of art and creativity, survival and perseverance, family, freedom and love.

This epic story has been adapted for the stage by award-winning playwright Jane Bodie, based on the original memoir by Eva de Jong-Duldig. It features original Music and Arrangements by Anthony Barnhill with lyrics by our very own Founder and Chair Tania de Jong AM, and Jane Bodie. It features an all-Jewish cast directed by acclaimed, indigenous theatre-maker Wesley Enoch AM.

We encourage you to watch and share the trailer for Driftwood – The Musical in your networks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDDetJiubkI

The world premiere performances of this work will take place between 13th – 29th May 2022 at Alexander Theatre, Monash University and Chapel Off Chapel in Prahran, Melbourne.
