This is the second part of a 3-part program on the Life and Times of Robyn Youlten.

A Baby Boomer, Robyn excelled at school and because of that was the subject of constant taunting. Eventually she left school and joined a bank but she also had a talent for singing.

She entered Young Talent Time and as a result ended up with the great Evie Hayes as her manager and began singing professionally including a great gif for 5-days a week at the then “Geoff Brooks Steak Cave”.

She then formed her own all female band – The Screaming Heap but in the 1970’s gigs became harder to get so she returned to study.

There is much to learn about Robyn in this part of her story including her work in animal welfare, however, in this program we start with Robyn talking about her music career.

I have been with the Toorak Times since April 2012. I worked as Senior Editor of the Toorak Times until 2023, when I retired. I now work as a special features contributor for both the Toorak Times and Tagg. I've been in the Australian music scene as a musician since 1964, and have worked in radio and TV and newspapers (when they were actually printed on paper) as well as working in the film industry, as the Film Unit manager on Homicide for several years. I also have extensive experience in audio production and editing.
