Dead Tooth continues their ascent in the post-punk scene with the release of their newest single, “You Never Do Shit”. The track, out now on Trash Casual, leads into their forthcoming debut self-titled album, slated for release this July.
Initially written as a demo for the Apple TV series City on Fire, frontman Zach Ellis decided to repurpose the track for Dead Tooth after the show chose another song. “I actually kind of liked this demo more than my ‘City on Fire’ one,” Ellis said. “So I was excited I got to bring it into Dead Tooth.”
The band includes James Duncan, Taylor Mitchell, Mikey Cohen, and John Stanesco—whose saxophone and EWI work bring an experimental edge to their sound.
Dead Tooth’s past releases—”Still beats”, “Pig pile”, and various singles—have earned critical attention and a growing cult following. With a reputation for intense, unpredictable live shows, they’ve performed with artists ranging from GWAR to Bass Drum of Death and made a standout appearance at SXSW.
