Renowned as a trailblazer in the realm of “Space-Pop”, Whammyboy makes a triumphant return with his infectiously upbeat creation ‘Chop It’ available starting August 4th via Gems (Warner Music Norway). Following the acclaim garnered for his previous single ‘Heart’, which garnered recognition on BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists Show, he has taken the stage in both the UK and Northern Europe and is now gearing up for a comprehensive European and UK tour scheduled for the upcoming Autumn season, along his debut EP.

His single ‘Chop It’ aptly embraces its title by delivering a symphony of glitch-infused sounds and captivating melodies. The track exudes a contemporary and vibrant aura while simultaneously invoking a sense of nostalgia, with its rhythmic backbone reminiscent of Disco influences intertwined seamlessly with state-of-the-art synths and innovative effects. Whammyboy’s vocals soar immaculately above a buoyant offbeat bassline that maintains an infectious presence throughout the composition. The track’s allure is undeniable, enticing listeners to engage in an endless loop of its sonic delights. Indeed, it’s a musical offering suitable for both terrestrial beings and interstellar entities alike.

Reflecting on the track, Whammyboy shared his insight: “It’s called that basically because I’m chopping some sounds…it’s very literal,” explains Noah. “The technique was inspired by Daft Punk, production-wise. But then it turned into something else, thanks to the offbeat bass from my childhood again. It really has me in its grip! With the lyrics, they’re very kind of vague, expressionistic kind of lyrics..”
