LEGENDARY BRISBANE BAND VIOLENT SOHO & I OH YOU CELEBRATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF AWARD-WINNING, CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM HUNGRY GHOST WITH LIMITED VINYL PRESSING

[14 September 2023] To celebrate Violent Soho’s cult classic album Hungry Ghost turning 10, I OH YOU are pumped to announce limited and very sick Standard and Deluxe pressings of the record, available to pre-order next Wednesday 20 September at 9AM AEST. With a near-constant ‘sold-out’ status on their iconic back catalogue, this reissue is sure to be welcome news to the band’s loyal fanbase.

“Hungry Ghost is 10! Hell Fuck Yeah!! 10 years ago when we recorded Hungry Ghost we had no expectations, we just wanted to record music on our own terms – at home in Brisbane, in a shed with the producer who worked with local punk bands. We had no idea the record would go on to change our lives. We did some digging and found some live tracks plus some demos from that period that helped shape the record – we hope everyone enjoys looking back as much we have. Thanks everyone who’s supported the band and record over the past 10 years – we’re continually grateful and humbled by the experience!”
– Violent Soho

The Standard version will be pressed in two 180g splatter variants – blood red with black splatter, and 50/50 orange/red with black splatter – featuring a special 10th-anniversary edition cover and the beloved original track listing.

The Deluxe pressing features a 180g double LP with yellow with orange/red splatter, encased in a gatefold full of images from the Hungry Ghost era, along with a very special lenticular print that gives Hungry Ghost’s flaming skull an epic 3D transformation. The Deluxe pressing will also include live bonus tracks from one of Violent Soho’s shows at their beloved Mansfield tavern and massive main stage set at Splendour in the Grass in 2016, plus previously unheard demo ‘Follow Me here’ and fan favourites ‘Domestic La La’ and ‘Home Haircut’, which were only ever released on a double A-side 7” vinyl.

Hungry Ghost officially arrived in the world on 6 September 2013, via long-time label and friends I OH YOU. It’s a record that becomes more loved with every passing year, and propelled Violent Soho into the hearts of audiences and stereos across the nation – and beyond.

Featuring the now cult smash hits ‘Covered In Chrome’ (2x ARIA Platinum) & ‘Saramona Said’ (ARIA Gold), the album debuted at #6 on the ARIA Charts (remaining in the top 50 for over a year), won ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Rock Album’ at the 2014 AIR Awards and has been streamed a whopping 63million+ times. ‘Covered In Chrome’ has been a firm fan favourite since its release, which was reinforced when it landed #4 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of the decade for 2010’s.

The release of Hungry Ghost saw Violent Soho grace many a stage bringing the fans what they wanted. The electric energy of the record exploding through amps into many a sweaty band room with over 60 headline shows, playing to 20,000+ fans, and to massive festival audiences, playing Falls Festival, Big Day Out, SITG, Push Over, to name a few.

After announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2022, this anniversary gives us a chance to celebrate Violent Soho and their ability to unite a community. We can’t wait for these very special pressings to find their way onto the shelves of Soho fans the world over.
