A Fool’s Company production for Melbourne Fringe Festival 2023

Direct from their sellout seasons in NZ, Auckland’s notoriously hilarious, anarchic troupe of ‘badass’ players, A Fool’s Company, are coming to shake the foundations of our most sacred institution in this brilliant company-devised offering that Melbournians will love.

The Wedding is a glorious evening of comedic gothic horror. Combining elements of physical theatre and clowning, the show explores marriage, sexuality, and puritanism.

“It is a real credit to the performers and the direction that this rollicking show can also find moments of real pathos and genuine emotion amidst the stitch-inducing plot.”
– Irene Corbett for Theatre Scenes, NZ.

The script tells of a frightened young man, coerced by his overbearing mother to marry his distant cousin, the daughter of the wealthiest man in town. The subsequent events felicitously depict the rampant greed, suspicion, duplicitousness, and outrageous dissembling individuals exhibit at times when they should be on their best behaviour!

CAT Artistic Director, Matthew Richard Walsh said, “This show is such a credit to producer Charlie Underhill and everyone involved, we are so proud that Cracked Actors can facilitate the first of what will undoubtedly be many trips across the ditch for A Fool’s Company”. A Fool’s Company will be the first international act to feature as part of CAT’s curated program since the home of Cracked Actors opened.
