ONEIRIC – SURREAL AND SUBLIME!

oneiric - surreal and sublime!

I was completely entranced from the opening moments of this performance.

Ian Moorhead’s musical composition was powerful, mind-bending and disorientating and combined with the sensual lighting design by Harrison Cope set against a stark, black and white tonal and lightly smoky performance space with shards of vibrant colour, and Charles Alexander’s visual projections truly put my senses on edge with breath-taken anticipation, already stimulated to an almost psychedelic level.

Suddenly my attention was drawn to the rigging from which dropped two long trains of aerial silks atop which our first artist produced a stunning display of aerial gymnastics, but then I sensed movement below and on both sides of the stage small packs of performers flowed and ebbed like human waves.

Trying, wishing and wanting to watch all going on I almost had a vertigo attack from the middle rows as I leant forward in a trance-like state…the liquid movements of the troupe melded into an amorphous, ephemeral combination of music, lights, choreography and seamless set changes assimilated into a being of its own.

ONEIRIC closes this Saturday with a matinee and a night session.

Don’t miss it, an unforgettable experience!
