The Great Escape 2025 is about to get a dose of pure Aotearoa energy. Presented by the New Zealand Music Commission, New Zealand @ The Great Escape is back, bringing four of the country’s most exciting artists to the stage for an afternoon of unforgettable live music. Taking place at Patterns Downstairs on Thursday, 15th May from 12pm–4pm, this free-entry showcase is the ultimate chance to catch rising stars and global names in an intimate setting before they hit even bigger stages.
🎤 The Lineup
12:30 – CHAII
A genre-defying force of nature, Iranian-born, NZ-raised CHAII blends global hip hop, slick production, and striking visuals. With tracks featured in FIFA 21, Ms. Marvel, and The Old Guard, she’s no stranger to the spotlight. CHAII’s multicultural edge and powerhouse live energy—often backed by the band Yoko-Zuna—make her an unmissable opener.
13:30 – MUROKI
Fresh off a move to Berlin, Muroki brings his sun-drenched, soul-drenched sound to Brighton. With hits like Wavy and Love Cocoon, the Kenyan-Kiwi singer blends indie, funk, and pop into a dreamy mix that’s already won hearts across Australasia. Expect grooves, smooth vocals, and undeniable charm.
14:30 – DRAX PROJECT
With half a billion streams and global tours supporting Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello, Drax Project have grown from Wellington buskers to international sensations. Their mix of pop, RnB, and tight four-part harmonies has lit up stages from Coachella afterparties to sold-out nights in London and NYC. Their live show? Funky, polished, and packed with hits like Catching Feelings and Woke Up Late.
15:30 – NO CIGAR
Rounding out the day is indie-rock outfit NO CIGAR, fresh from a sold-out European tour and celebrating the release of their second album The Great Escape. Known for their raw energy and relatable songwriting, this band has quickly become one of NZ’s most exciting live acts. With over 11 million streams and growing global buzz, they’re bringing festival-ready anthems to the coast of Brighton.
