SHADOWBOXER ALBUM OUT IN TWO WEEKS

With the release of their debut album Shadowboxer just two weeks away, Mansionair today reveal another taste of the record in ‘We Could Leave’ and confirm the news many fans have been waiting for – announcing an Australian tour for May/ June this year.

The tour will see the Sydney trio playing metro and regional shows with a run of dates covering Newcastle, Wollongong, Ballarat, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. Live, the band shine; their engaging, tight sets well-honed after numerous tours both local and abroad.  Most recently, Mansionair performed at this year’s Laneway Festival.

“We’ve spent four years working on our debut album Shadowboxer and we’re beyond excited to put it on a stage in front of our beautiful Australian audience. We’re hitting some new cities we’ve never played before as well as the old favs. Come bring Shadowboxer to life with us.” – M x

Up and coming Sydney artist Kirsty Tickle, more commonly known as Exhibitionist, will support Mansionair on the tour.

‘We Could Leave’ offers another glimpse into the shimmering world of Shadowboxer’s 16 tracks. It follows on from current single ‘Shadows’, and previous singles ‘Astronaut (Something About Your Love)’, (which late last year earnt the band their first gold ARIA certification), ‘Violet City’ and ‘Technicolour’. Collectively, the band’s global streaming numbers top an impressive 130 million.

Their long-awaited debut album, Shadowboxer, was written and self-produced over a three-year period – in living rooms, studios, a garage in inner-city Sydney, and finally a cabin in the Californian mountains – in between the band’s travels and touring. It’s the culmination of a journey that started with a viral hit single – ‘Hold Me Down’ – and led to high profile collaborations, a Grammy-nomination, ARIA and Billboard charting singles and several major support tours (CHVRCHES, Florence & The Machine, London Grammar and Bob Moses). But it’s also an album reflective of everything the band were going through personally and creatively – from mental health to sickness, relationship breakdowns to the ordinary coming-of-age struggles of youth.

“Shadowboxer is about acknowledging that we are often our own opponent, and learning to accept our inner shadows – the ones we try so hard to ignore. It’s a record about deciding to lift our gaze from the darkness and acknowledge the light that shapes us.” – Mansionair

Tickets for the Shadowboxer Tour go on-sale next Tuesday Feb 19 at 9am local time.

A fan pre-sale will run from Monday Feb 18 at 9am local time. See mansionair.com for all ticketing info.
