Tasmania $36.00

It was only recently I was whinging and whining about Chardonnay all tasting the same.
Well, have I got a left-of-centre Chardonnay for you guys, The Lost Farm Chardonnay from Tasmania.

I have been in pursuit of a Chardonnay that is different and stood out from the rest I tried a couple of different ones from Tasmania this week.

This one from Lost Farm was the stand out as it was a little funky or yeasty there was something different about this one, so much so that I got a second bottle the next day.

The first thing was the nose as stated, funky or yeasty the funk followed through to the plate all this with a bright cleansing acid wash on the finish.

It was one of those wines where you take a sip and you stop and think about the wine rather than just drink it.

I must be honest I got a second bottle the next night just to make sure the funk was not just bottle variation. Sure enough, the second bottle had funk and a little more acid that took half a bottle to open up, with a lemon acid line running the full length of the wine.

The wine is interesting enough however needs food to bring out its best. Once again be warned this wine is not for everyone. However, if you are looking for funk the 2020 from Lost Farm might just be up your alley.

Roast chicken with garlic and butter pushed under the skin as it roasts would suit this wine with its earthy flavours.
