London-based dreampop outfit Just Like Honey return with Laugh About It, a hazy, slow-burning meditation on the quiet emotional storms we mask from the world. Known for their lush, cinematic soundscapes and melancholic warmth, the band continues to craft music that feels intimate yet expansive, delicate yet resonant.
Frontwoman Emily’s vocals float between gentle confession and unspoken ache, perfectly capturing the tension between outward composure and inner turmoil. The track melds shoegaze shimmer, grunge undertones, and dreamy pop warmth, creating a sonic space that’s as immersive as it is emotionally gripping. Swirling guitars and a soft, smouldering rhythm pulse beneath the melody, echoing the ways we navigate life while concealing anxiety, sadness, and uncertainty.
“Laugh About It floats like a daydream underwater, nostalgic and vulnerable,” the band explains. “It’s about keeping up the façade when everything shakes beneath the surface. It’s a bittersweet anthem for the beautifully broken, for anyone who’s ever faked being okay.”
Originally penned with just Emily and an acoustic guitar, the song evolved through different arrangements before finding its final form during a Somerset recording session with producer Pete Robertson. The result is both intimate and expansive, familiar yet elusive, evoking the feeling of remembering a half-formed memory.
With Laugh About It, Just Like Honey continue to carve a quietly radiant path through dreampop, inviting listeners to sit with their emotions rather than escape them. The track lingers long after the final note, settling like sunlight through sheer curtains, warm, wistful, and beautifully honest.
