The 59th GRAMMY Award Nominees were made public on Tuesday and Bluesfest Touring is thrilled to announce the following artists are amongst it’s esteemed ranks!  GRAMMY winners will be announced on February 12th 2017.

Already a GRAMMY-winning artist; Rhiannon Giddens came to fame as the lead singer of African-American folk interpreters Carolina Chocolate Drops. 

Incorporating country, gospel, jazz, blues and a hint of proto-rock n’ roll Giddens displays an emotional range to match her dazzling vocals. Giddens’ second solo album Factory Girl is up for an incredible two nominations.

Up against Beyonce, Rihanna and Anderson .Paak no less… Gallant holds his own counting amongst his supporters Elton John and Seal; gracing stages from Coachella to the White House! 

Labeled as “breakthrough artist of 2015” and “the voice that will redefine R&B”  by Billboard and NME respectively, the young Los Angeles artist identifies his music as future soul, bridging contemporary productions with old school songwriting.

Gregory Porter’s second album Liquid Spirit saw him take home a GRAMMY in this same category in 2014. This, his fifth nomination may prove a charm for the Californian jazz, soul and gospel singer.

After selling out shows in Sydney and Melbourne in September 2016, Gregory Porter will return to Australia in April; sharing what has been witnessed all around the world as “a room-bursting voice and a heart the size of a house” – SMH

Best Contemporary Blues Album – Give It Back To You

Rock-and-soul trio The Record Company have scored a nomination with their debut album Give It Back To You. The lead single ‘Off The Ground’ spent two consecutive weeks on the US radio #1 charts, with Rolling Stone declaring them in the “10 New Artists You Need to Know”.

Since it’s release the band have toured widely, playing alongside Blackberry Smoke, Trombone Shoty & Orleans Avenue and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats.

Hailing from Los Angeles and formed in 2011; this is the first tour for the band TimeOut described as “reminiscent of some of the best acts of the ’50s and ’60s – like if John Lee Hooker and The Stooges had a well-behaved love child”.

He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972. Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry.Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
