Drunkle – A Cowpunk Blues Fest

In the summer of ’16 or ’67 or ’83 depending on which sources you believe, Hank Holistic, Leroy St Chapeax, Jonny Crash and Cletus Van Zandt met at a rehab facility in Tallahassee Florida. Sharing a common interest in addiction, Hank, Leroy, Jonny Crash and Cletus Van Zandt forged a bond with their common love of the same woman (Stormy) and a love of writing Country/punk music. Drunkle was born and their songs have been stolen and covered by many artists over the years who have gone on the become famous.

Drunkle are a Melbourne cowpunk 4 piece playing the all songs you know in the key of country, western, punk, blues and polka. This’ll be a fun night! It’s one of the only original bands where you’ll know every single song they play even if you haven’t seen them before.

“The Guitar and Voice of The Legendary Bondi Cigars, Foreday Riders and PACEY KING & DOLEY is bringing it back home, with his namesake Band!”.

SHANE PACEY TRIO…are that rare (and becoming rarer!) thing…

Shane states “The main aim is to create something totally different to The Cigars” ,a no-nonsense trip through the Blues back pages Played with his customary attack and passion, then add a killer Rhythm Section… this band hits you right in solar plexus”.

Samuel Saffery (NZ)

(George Lane Matinee Sessions)

From rural New Zealand to the subways and bodegas of New York, Samuel R. Saffery’s musical journey is unquestionably linked to place and movement. In March this year, he embarked on an epic 400-kilometre walking tour through New Zealand to promote his new solo releases. He is now making his debut on Australian stages.

Blending indie folk, alternative rock, and classical influences, his songs are delivered with a distinctive, melodic voice, as haunting as it is sweet. Honest, gutsy lyricism and his willingness to connect with people give listeners the sense they’re sharing in a secret that might not be retold.

Saffery honed his craft touring in USA, UK and Europe as a member of New York indie folk band Bird Courage. His solo music explores themes of identity, the subconscious world, human beings’ sense of place, and their daily connections with one another. Support for the day is Laura MacFarlane.
