Multi award-winning global podcast phenomenon Casefile Presents with More Talent are thrilled to present Criminal Conversations – a riveting new “in conversation” live event featuring two of Australia’s most respected True Crime authorities, Vikki Petraitis and Emily Webb, and a special appearance from a guest who was himself on the front line of one of Victoria’s most horrific criminal attacks. Fact can be scarier than fiction, and audiences will be getting nothing but the most fascinating facts in this flagship pair of events on Friday 22 September at York On Lilydale and Saturday 23 September at Chelsea Heights Hotel.

Co-host of the smash hit (70m+ downloads) Australian True Crime podcast, Emily is a journalist and author who has had dozens of true crime tales published in her true crime anthologies Angels of Death: Doctors and Nurses Who Kill and Suburban True Crime. Vikki has penned eighteen books and presented four Casefile Presents series, including Australian Podcast Award-nominated The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron and the chart-dominating The Frankston Murders, both of which went straight to number one in Australia and the UK.

With Vikki and Emily diving into the stories that have most stuck with them over their careers and sharing a glimpse behind the curtain of some of their methods and experiences, Criminal Conversations is sure to bring a new level of obsession for die-hard true crime enthusiasts and newbies alike. Vikki has some new developments in the Phillip Island and Frankston murder cases to disclose on the night; while Emily will touch on the 1987 disappearance of teenager Suzanne Lawrance from Healesville, which she’s been covering since 2011 and is one of her most requested topics. The hosts will then be joined on stage by their guest – veteran policeman and survivor of the Russell St bombings, Carl Donadio.

The infamous case was personally life-changing and career-defining for Donadio, and with the concept of terrorism on Australian soil unthinkable at the time, the 1986 bombing of the Russell St Police Headquarters remains one of the most chilling attacks in modern history. One of the earliest stories covered by Casefile (in Episodes twenty-four and twenty-five), the infamous case was also the subject of Vikki’s acclaimed book, The Russell Street Bombing. The attacks resulted in the then nineteen-year-old rookie Constable Donadio suffering catastrophic injuries from being thrown fifteen metres by the blast, and the death of his colleague, Constable Angela Taylor who devastatingly lost her life as a result of the injuries she sustained, making her the first Australian policewoman to be killed in the line of duty.

The Casefile podcast was created in 2016 by an anonymous host with no experience but plenty of time on his hands as he recovered from an injury. What began as an experiment grew into a professionally produced podcast, collecting numerous awards including Apple Podcast’s ‘Best Of’ for five years running, and Spotify’s ‘Podcast of the Decade’. Affectionately nicknamed “Casey” by millions of fans across the globe; thanks to his respectful treatment of real people’s stories and measured, compelling delivery, our anonymous host’s project is now a global phenomenon. With over six hundred million downloads worldwide, the platform has grown to employ an entire team based across multiple continents and spawned its own multiverse, with the 2019 introduction of Casefile Presents for new hosts to share the stories they have researched with Casefile’s dedicated audience.

With the personal involvement of Vikki, who was on patrol with local police the night the final Frankston murder took place; and Carl, whose last-minute lunch detour unquestionably saved his life that day; these stories keep audiences thinking long after they have finished – so we know you have questions! Ticket purchasers will be given the opportunity to submit a question for Vikki, Emily, Carl Donadio and even the elusive Casey himself prior to the show. And while he is protecting his anonymity and not appearing in this show, he may just answer your question…

Tickets are selling fast and with the identity of the special guest now revealed are expected to sell out quickly.
