ASHLEY NAYLOR – SINGER/SONGWRITER/GUITARIST OF MELBOURNE’S BELOVED EVEN AND GUITARIST FOR PAUL KELLY, THE CHURCH, THE ROCKWIZ ORCHESTRA AND MORE – RELEASES EPIC NEW SOLO SINGLE “SPACESHIP” FROM FORTHCOMING SOLO INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM SOUNDTRACKS VOLUME 2
Ashley Naylor, guitarist, songwriter and singer of beloved Melbourne band Even and guitarist for Paul Kelly, The Church, the Rockwiz Orchestra and others, has today released the nearly 9-minute-long guitar instrumental “Spaceship”.
The track will feature on his forthcoming instrumental solo album Soundtracks Volume 2, which Ashley and band previewed last night in a rare show at Shotkickers in Thornbury.
Soundtracks Volume 2, which will be released later in the year, will be Naylor’s second volume of instrumental guitar music and his first solo release since Even‘s acclaimed 2021 ARIA Top 20 Double album Reverse Light Years. It will be the second album of 2023 to feature Naylor’s remarkable playing, following The Church‘s latest album The Hypnogogue, which was the guitarist’s first album with The Church since he joined in 2020. Naylor has recently come off a 21 city, six week US tour with The Church and heads off with them for an Australian national tour starting later this month.
Naylor also played guitar on Paul Kelly‘s recently released cover of the Sunnyboys‘ classic “Alone with You”.
Last night’s show at Shotkickers was Naylor’s first solo show since February 2019, and the first time Naylor has played a show dedicated to his solo instrumental material.
“Many of my favourite moments on stage are when I get to focus solely on the electric guitar,” he explains.
“Spaceship” is out now on El Reno Music via digital outlets.
Soundtracks Volume 2 will be released on El Reno Music later in 2023.
