Following in the godlike footsteps of Queens of the Stone Age, Gorillaz, Ty Segall, and Them Crooked Vultures, Brighton’s Bones Ate Arfa is back with a sound that promises to devour listeners. Their debut single “Asbestos” rooted the band in their desert garage rock sound while bringing in influences of industrial 90s metal and psychedelic punk. Now, they are taking a step further with their latest track “Shedtrak”, a song born from pure DIY ethos and a fusion of unexpected genres.
The story behind “Shedtrak” dates back two years to a summer day when singer and bassist Arfa and producer Joss Crooks found themselves in Arfa’s shed recording drums. With no other parts of the song written, all they had was a simple yet captivating drum track. Fast forward a year, and the song evolved with the addition of guitars, bass, and various instrumental layers, though it remained in a demo state.
The turning point came when the band enlisted the help of Dread FM, who laid down some bars on the second verse, transforming “Shedtrak” into a unique blend of garage rock and trip hop. With the final touch of guitar riffs, the track was complete.
