THE WAIT DEBUTS AT #2

VIKA & LINDA DEBUT AT #2 ON THE ARIA CHART WITH THEIR NEW ALBUM THE WAIT
THIRD TOP 5 ALBUM FOR VIKA & LINDA IN 15 MONTHS
THE WAIT IS THEIR FIRST NEW ORIGINAL ALBUM IN 19 YEARS

The Wait, the new album from Vika & Linda, has debuted at #2 on the ARIA Chart, delivering Vika & Linda their third top 5 album in just 15 months.

Following a 14 year period since their last album release (2006’s acoustic record Between Two Shores), Vika & Linda made their stunning return with the release of their anthology ‘Akilotoa in June 2020. The album debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart, marking their first ever #1 album and the first album by an Australian female duo to debut at #1.

Three months later, in September 2020, their gospel collection Sunday (The Gospel According To Iso) debuted at #2.

“I cannot believe it was only June last year when we welcomed Vika & Linda back into the Mushroom family,” said Bloodlines Music co-founder Warren Costello. “It was the mid-’90s when Mushroom released Vika & Linda’s first three studio albums, including their 1994 self-titled debut (top 10, certified platinum, nominated for an ARIA Award), so Michael Gudinski and I have enjoyed such a great history and strong bond with the girls over a long period of time. The ensuing 15 months have seen them achieve so much in such a short period of time. The girls and their manager Lisa Palermo, and the entire Mushroom family – including the Bloodlines label, plus the publishing, agency and touring, and merchandising arms – have all worked incredibly hard to deliver this string of incredible chart debuts in the last year and a half, including this latest stunning result. They have succeeded in the most challenging of circumstances, and I’d like to think that Vika & Linda have done this by adding their own unique PPE – Power of Positive Energy!”

The Wait has been met with universal praise.

“Album of the year? No doubt.” – Rhythms

“Soon it would become apparent that 2020 was the year that many artistic careers slid to a pause, but not that of Vika & Linda, whose soulful vocal prowess became a radiant beacon of warmth… The Wait delivers, from the banshee blues wail of ‘Since You’re Gone’, which could almost be a long-lost Led Zeppelin out-take, to the breathless come-on of ‘Lover Don’t Keep Me Waiting’” – The Australian

“This is the sound of two women taking control of their careers and refusing to play it safe. Their time is now. The Wait is the album of the year.” – STACK

“Heart, soul, harmony, attitude and wit. Do yourself a favour, get it and play it loud!” – Paul Kelly

Vika & Linda are thrilled to debut at #2 with The Wait, their first album of new original songs in 19 years.

“We are overjoyed by the response to The Wait, it took a long time, but our brilliant team shared our vision and stuck by us to make it happen. The last 15 months have been incredibly creative for us resulting in successes that we would never have expected, and during the hardest of times for our industry. Eternal thanks to Michael Gudinski and Warren Costello for welcoming us so warmly back into the Mushroom fold. We are truly grateful to Bill Page, Dean McLachlan and the Bloodlines team for working exceptionally hard on ‘Akilotoa, Sunday and The Wait. And we must acknowledge our dynamic manager Lisa Palermo, without whom all of this would not have been possible. Now we can’t wait to get out and play for our fans – let’s get this show on the road!”
