‘pop choir at the bar’– back by popular demand at memo music hall

8pm Saturday 18 March 2023

After a hugely successful singalong show with 300 participants in January, ‘Pop Choir at the Bar’ is back at MEMO by popular demand on Saturday 18 March 2023. International singers Sharon Stokes and Darryl Moulton present a very special evening event where YOU are part of the show.

Darryl and Sharon will teach you a few simple harmonies, while you sip on some drinks and sing your heart out to a classic well – known pop song. But you won’t know which song it is until the day! It could be anything from the 1960s to a recent classic. The end result is recorded professionally to create an amazing video you can treasure forever. Check out the recording form the last MEMO show here .

Darryl and Sharon agree that if you think you can’t hold a note, No worries! “Our motto is, ‘if you can speak you can sing’. Singing is not just fun, it’s also good for you, and there is no better way to unite a big group of peopleYou’ll get that euphoric feeing you have at a rock concert when everyone is singing together,” they said.

“We just love the sense of community and connectedness that Pop Choir creates whether in a community hall or at the ‘Pop Choir at the Bar’ events. To see the genuine fun that people have and the joy on their faces when they sing is so rewarding,” Sharon said.

Darryl and Sharon have performed Pop Choir events all over Melbourne at iconic venues such as Hamer Hall, Federation Square, Melbourne Town Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne and the Melbourne Convention Centre, to name a few. Their energy, flare and charisma on stage guarantees an event to remember.

They have been running Pop Choir for nine years in community halls in the bayside suburbs of Moorabbin, Mordialloc, Mornington and Murrumbeena – where they live.

Sharon has been singing professionally around the world for 25 years and is one of Melbourne’s premier singing coaches.  She has a BA in Drama and Musical Theatre and has completed a Cert II of Musical Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She has performed, taught and coached for well-known entertainment schools and productions all across Australia, and now is fully dedicated to teaching and directing Pop Choirs all over Melbourne.

Darryl is a successful singer-songwriter and performer who has performed and recorded all over the world. He started out in Television Design and Video Editing as a Graphic Designer for Channel 5 in London, and freelanced for the BBC , Sky Television, Channel 4 the Disney Channel and MTV. Darryl still uses these skills today to film and edit all the Pop Choir at the Bar events. He left TV in his late twenties to pursue a career as a singer, which is where he met his life and business partner Sharon, on a Cruise Ship.
