Lulie Street Tavern

Post AFL-finals my pal Rach and I decided to play some pool at Collinghood’s kewlest used-to-be-a-garage-but-is-now-a-bar Lulie Street Tavern. Next to Victoria Park Station it is easy peasey Japanesey to get there should you be training, walking, cycling, cabbing, Ubering or even bussing (lol it’s 1978).
Other reasons I like it:
1 – it’s dog friendly as all places should be
2 – you can play pool for free
4 – the chunes are epic: from 70’s rock to 70’s rock it’s literally everything
F – one person shuffling near a chair will turn that area into a dancefloor within seconds
6 – the bartender’s beard is not a fashion statement
J – you can read poetry here while drinking whiskey and not laugh at yourself (everytime I go I swear someone is doing this)
iv – the crowd is 14/10 kewl everytime. Saturday night featured; Dan The Maddawg on a date with a girl who looks like Radha Mitchell, artist and legendary local Shawn Lu nailing everyday handsome, vodka guy wanting to talk about the new world order, Adnate offering us his left over pizza, ciggie breath dude trying to give us the bad pool cue, The Blondes buying us dranks for beating them three games in a row, The Gaso’s Em Ul wearing her Bulldogs gear and trying to make us go to Mikey Cahills set (which had already finished an hour before), and two particularly symmetrical babes who came up to high-five The Sprink because when you see a fellow Sprink YOU JUST KNOW AND YOU JUST CELEBRATE DAMN IT

There are heaps more reasons why this is the best bar but I am still a bit hung so bye.
