Loyal to the Locals

It’s the “little routines” that count, when travelling.

I start every morning with ice coffee and tra da from the same street vendor lady.

I have been doing this since I started visiting Nha Trang, in Vietnam. I have done so in Vung Tau, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hanoi, HCMC and in Cambodia and Thailand – and everywhere I go, really.

Each visit, I notice there are fewer of the little street food vendors as “progress” gobbles them up, for conspicuous consumption has no appetite for tradition.

When you travel, why not support the little street vendors and the local cafes and bars?
