One of Melbourne’s most prolific mural artists, Anthony Breslin, is set to make his creative mark on a charming laneway adjacent to Prahran’s restaurant gallery, Midnight in Paris.

Anthony has been an international award-winning career artist for thirty years and during that time has mounted over 60 solo shows of his fine art, as well as working on numerous public art projects with communities and schools around Australia. His Melbourne murals and public art installations can be found in St Kilda and Murrumbeena, with his Murrumbeena mural having recently been featured on a Metro Trains x Storytowns app collaboration podcast (look for the ‘Packenham line’). Breslin is also currently working with a Melbourne developer to create bespoke artwork for a boutique block of apartments in Heidelberg.

In this latest laneway mural project, called Love Bug Lane, Anthony is collaborating with Midnight in Paris owner, Jen Taranto, to bring his unique brand of vibrant creativity to the permanent installation. Born from Jen’s enormous love of his work and desire to share it with Prahran’s locals, the mural consists of over 100 panels featuring panels painted and installed in a collage of Anthony’s iconic bugs,  whimsical flowers and delicately decorated hearts. Anthony says of creating murals: “ I fell in love with the challenge of inventing my own form of mural making which can publicly engage a large and unsuspecting audience, leaving them overwhelmed in a joyful and humoured way”. In an innovative first, art lovers visiting the mural will be able to purchase their own prints or t-shirts of any of the designs on the mural 24/7 by way of a QR code installed on the wall which will take them to the Midnight in Paris website to order.

In conjunction with the laneway, Anthony will be holding a solo show within the Midnight in Paris main gallery over two months, which will run from early April through to the end of May. Both mural and the exhibition are will be launched with a fun, art-filled event for all the family on Saturday the 20th of April and will feature a mini-market with Breslin’s limited-run art tees and books, live music, competitions and free welcome drinks accompanied by delicious catering by the Midnight in Paris kitchen.
