I have been with the Toorak Times since April 2012. I worked as Senior Editor of the Toorak Times until 2023, when I retired. I now work as a special features contributor for both the Toorak Times and Tagg. I've been in the Australian music scene as a musician since 1964, and have worked in radio and TV and newspapers (when they were actually printed on paper) as well as working in the film industry, as the Film Unit manager on Homicide for several years. I also have extensive experience in audio production and editing.

This is Part 1 of a 4-part program that features the Life and Times of Claire Humphrys.

Originally aired in early 2016, it is considered as one of our Golden Moment programs, and worth repeating for those that may have missed it the first time.

Claire, a Baby Boomer, was born in Melbourne in 1946.  As we will learn over the four programs, she is a strong-willed women who has achieved in her own right, but, she also became the woman behind one of Australia’s most loved singers of the 1960’s – Gerry Humphrys.

Gerry was the front man for one of Australia’s most remarkable groups – The Loved Ones.

Certainly, as you would expect, Claire discusses her life with Gerry at some length, sharing many fond memories and possibly sharing stories never before told.

Yet it would be a big mistake to believe her life only revolved around Gerry, as we will learn.
