January was an exciting start to the year. We played our ‘Backwards in High Heels’ show at the beautiful Spotted Mallard. Kelly’s gig at the Ballarat Beer Festival went down a treat. Fans loved our show and listened whilst sampling a multitude of beers, ciders and wines. Keep your eyes peeled for next year’s extravaganza.

We played on the famous Blues Train. This is a unique night out. We were in carriage D….the party carriage. Everyone had a fine time dancing on a rocking-rolling train.

At one point I realised that if I just stood still it looked as if I was dancing anyhow … what a great workout that was! Yes, I had to take off my shoes, but you are all used to that!

The final show for January was at the Dogs Bar in St Kilda which was also a raging success. The dance-floor was packed and the band were rocking. What a fabulous venue with tasty food and super friendly staff.

Thrilling news is that I was nominated in the Artist of the Year category at the Australian Blues Music Chain Awards. I am nominated with Fiona Boyes, Lloyd Spiegel and 8 Ball Aitken and am honoured to be in such inspiring company.

Kelly’s Blues have been confirmed to play at Blues on Broadbeach in May. It will be wonderful to play the festival again. It is always a fabulous fun time on the Gold Coast.

Now to February and I am taking some time out for writing. I have a new album bubbling away in my brain and I need to get the songs on paper.
