The Jake Mason Trio will take to the Kew Court House on Friday 21 October, performing songs from their Aria Jazz Album of the Year nominated debut record “‘Stranger in the Mirror” as well as new compositions. Hammond organ soul-jazz is the specialty of the Jake Mason Trio, who are quickly becoming one of Australia’s favourite jazz acts.

“I love the place where Jazz and Soul meet. It has a simplicity that is so warm and welcoming combined with a complexity that is exciting and makes you move,” Jake says.

As organ player, leader and founding member of funk and soul group Cookin’ on 3 Burners, with whom he has released 4 albums, Jake co-wrote and produced numerous songs, including the ARIA nominated song of the year, “This Girl”. This chart-topping track hit the #1 spot in 10 countries and reached the top 10 charts in 37 territories.

An accomplished live performer, Jake has worked with artists such as Richard Clapton, Mark Seymour and Hugh Jackman, and has co-written with Kate Cebrano, Eric McCusker and Tania Doko to name a few.

Jakes adds: “I’m looking forward to being back at the fabulous Kew Court House for a night of Hammond infused soul and jazz. James Sherlock is freshly back from a European tour, Danny Fischer is firing on all drums and I will have the Leslie Speaker spinning like a whirlpool.” After selling out their last show for Boroondara Arts, their Kew Court House performance is one that is unmissable.

Led by Boroondara local Jake Mason (Hammond Organ), the trio also includes Danny Fischer (drums) and James Sherlock (guitar). The trio weave their way through familiar sounds with a modern twist, taking cues from the golden era of Hammond organ artists such as Jimmy Smith, Brother Jack McDuff, and Dr. Lonnie Smith as well as music from today’s melting pot.

Jake Mason is a multi-instrumentalist and prolific songwriter with over twenty years experience in the music industry. The award-winning musician, songwriter, producer, and touring artist has released twelve albums; gained platinum sales worldwide; and established his own label, Soul Messin’ Records, and production house. Jake made his triumphant solo debut with full length album, “The Stranger in the Mirror”, receiving rave reviews worldwide.
