The exciting and diverse range of workshops invite participants to immerse themselves in the local creative community and take home their new creations. 

Macramé for beginners

Vintage lovers feeling inspired to learn the basics of this popular ’70s craft will find it’s as simple as tying a knot. Macramé can be used to make everything from wall and plant hangers to purses and clothing and can be as simple or complex as the crafter would like. By the end of this workshop participants will have a retro piece of artwork to hang in their homes. Tuesday 18 October from 6:30 –8:30pm. 

Dumpling deliciousness: Textile workshop

Treat yourself to some dumpling deliciousness – from wontons to sui mai, you’re gyoza be wrapped with this workshop! Dumplings are universally loved delightful morsels and in this hands-on textile workshop, you can pay homage to them! Artist and maker Sai-Wai Foo will teach you hand sewing and finishing techniques with simple craft supplies to craft these soup-er snacks. Tuesday 15 November from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.

All workshops can be Auslan-interpreted, please contact Hawthorn Arts Centre at least two weeks prior to confirm an interpreter.

Mick Pacholli

Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
