Real Real Life are ready for some serious touring here in Australia after major tours in the USA, Germany and the Philippines over the last few years, both headlining and opening for the likes of Thomas Dolby, Midge Ure, The Motels and The Tubes. With a strong new lineup of veteran performers led by founding vocalist/songwriter David Sterry, the band are in top form. Classified as a New Wave band, Real Life have always featured on both radio and club charts with their infectious mix of synths, guitars and pop melodies.

Sun 6 Aug – Bacharach & Beyond  

Presented by Jack Howard & the Ambassadors of Love

For the past ten years, Jack Howard has been presenting his beautiful Bacharach and Beyond show around town with the splendid Ambassadors Of Love. The song list is breathtaking – Bacharach & David’s Say A Little Prayer, The Look Of Love, Alfie, Anyone Who Had A Heart and so many more; plus tunes from Jimmy Webb, The Carpenters and even Elvis. With the passing of Burt Bacharach fresh in their minds from earlier this year, the band will bring their brilliantly realised and orchestrated show back to Memo Music Hall for a very special tribute show on Sunday August 6th.

Fri 11 Aug – Lloyd Spiegel ‘Bakehouse Dozen’ Album Launch

Melbourne Blues artist Lloyd Spiegel celebrates the release of Bakehouse Dozen.  Recorded live in session with no overdubs at Melbourne’s iconic Bakehouse studios, the album offers reimagined versions of songs from Spiegel’s last 3 multi-award-winning recordings and showcases the raw energy and depth of the trio, signalling what’s to come. The Launch at MEMO features the incredibly talented Lisa Baird on trombone and long-time collaborator Tim Burnham on drums.

Sat 12 Aug – Stuck In A Moment – The U2 & INXS Story

As two of the greatest rock acts of all time, U2 and INXS have millions of fans worldwide. But not everyone knows that over the years, the legendary lead singers formed a close friendship. The tragic death of Michael Hutchence in 1997 left Bono emotionally fractured. Angry and frustrated… he put pen to paper to have the conversation with Michael he never got to have. The resulting song became one of U2’s most enduring hits. Stuck In A Moment is a celebration of friendship and a shared love of the best music! High-energy performances from each tribute band, playing INXS and U2’s greatest hits.

Sun 13 Aug – Those Pretty Wrongs (USA)

Touring Australia on the back of their new album Holiday Camp, Those Pretty Wrongs will be joined by some special friends and perform their own gorgeous material as well as some classic Big Star songs.

Together, Jody Stephens and Luther Russell are Those Pretty Wrongs, who combine the lyrical and soulful harmony and jangle of both Big Star and classic ’90s alt-country with the sort of folky, summery feeling that will warm anyone.

All this backed by The Tequila Bros Band. A celebration of Elvis’ earliest recordings to his final concert tour, Memories of ELVIS tributes the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in a unique and dynamic way.

Thu 24 Aug – Matt Taylor Celebrates 50 Years of ‘I Remember When I Was Young’

I Remember when I was Young topped the charts in 1973 a mere 50 years ago. Front man of the acclaimed band Chain, Matt Taylor is a pioneer of blues in Australia where his band The Bay City Union was the first traditional bluesband in the country. Matt has put a show together to tell the story of how I Remember When I Was Young came about, taking in the evolution of blues to Ozblues to Ozindigo his latest creation. This solo show will tell a unique story, how his band Chain were the catalyst for the formation of Mushroom Records how I Remember When I Was Young came about after a  two-week fast on water alone and then was recorded in an open paddock.

Mick Pacholli

Mick created TAGG - The Alternative Gig Guide in 1979 with Helmut Katterl, the world's first real Street Magazine. He had been involved with his fathers publishing business, Toorak Times and associated publications since 1972.  Mick was also involved in Melbourne's music scene for a number of years opening venues, discovering and managing bands and providing information and support for the industry. Mick has also created a number of local festivals and is involved in not for profit and supporting local charities.
