A word from Festival Director Peter Noble OAM:

Hi there,

It’s ALWAYS a great time at BLUESFEST, but with this, our fourth announcement from last week merged into the already announced artists. Bluesfest 2023 is really taking shape; I do hope you like where we are going with the artist bookings this year.

I wanted to invite artists who haven’t been back for quite a while, mixed with those who will be playing for the first time, and of course, those who really impressed at Bluesfest 2022. People like Christone Kingfish Ingram, Spinifex Gum featuring Marliya, The Angels, Ash Grunwald and the Backsliders. Weren’t they great?

Any Bluesfest artist list that includes Buddy Guy on his final tour, Joe Bonamassa, as well as Beth Hart, Jackson Browne, Gang of Youths, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Brothers, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Paolo Nutini, Elvis Costello, Steve Earle, Kaleo, Lucinda Williams, Tash Sultana, Xavier Rudd. And so many more; it’s going to be magic on our stages.

And don’t forget to check out Southern Avenue, The Brothers Landreth, Allison Russell, Greensky Bluegrass, Robert Glasper and more playing for the first time at Bluesfest. You are going to love these artists!

BLUESFEST SITE IMPROVEMENTS

We have finished waterproofing our Mojo stage and are now working on our Crossroads stage. We are building a new pedestrian bridge across the creek for our people coming from the southern side of the site to our entry gate.

We will be working in the camping and parking areas to make your experience better. The VIP area will have quite a few new things happening in it too.

We are always thinking about your experience at Bluesfest and working on improving it.

We will never forget that it is your support that allows us to continue presenting our beloved festival. Thank you for your patronage.

GET TO KNOW PAOLO NUTINI

If you don’t know Paolo Nutini or you are yet to listen to his new album, Last Night In The Bittersweet, then do yourself a huge favour and click the video above and get listening.

Once you’ve done that, read the comments below the YouTube video to get an understanding of just how loved he is. British newspapers were reporting that Paolo’s fans have been brought to tears by his show, so expect a doozy!

We at Bluesfest are so incredibly excited to have him as part of our Thursday lineup.

It’s Magic Moments time, and this week we want to thank Dylan from Bondi for his amazing moment!

I was 16 years old in 2008 when my father dragged me along with him to my first Bluesfest. I was happy to go as it was a festival and an opportunity to hang out with some of my friends who were also going, but I wasn’t so sure about or open to the Blues music.

I was hardly paying attention to the music, just hanging out with my friends in a corner of the Belongil site full of trees when we decided to go check out the guy who was on the cover of the Rhythms Magazine with Polkadot clothes and guitar, he was apparently the main act.

As we approached the Crossroads stage mid-set, watching Buddy Guy on the big screen and listening to him shredding the guitar, I started to spontaneously head-bang. I had never head-banged before. I began to experience spiritual ecstasy. The currents of the electric guitar were activating the bio-electrical currents within my body and soul.

I had never experienced this before, and I had never heard Blues music live before, especially electric blues guitar being shredded like Buddy was. I was awestruck.
Since then, I have attended every single Bluesfest, and I head-bang hard each year, particularly to the blues guitar shredders.
