$40.00 (Organic)

This wine comes from the region of Burgenland in Austria.
Blaufränkisch is a parent grape of both Gamay and Zweigelt. = (si gal)
Hence the wine is often compared to Pinot Noir in weight and style. keeping in mind that this is a very broad description of what to expect from this wine.
In the mouth, the wine is light to mid-weight with soft minerals and drying fruit tannins.
In the glass, the wine is more purple than red with an expressive bright nose of blackberries and oak entwined with dark almost sour cherries.
All this flows through to the palate a little peppery on entry with drying tannins, mid-weight drinking, and a light savoury and mineral-laced wine.
For myself, I liked the minerals and fruit tannins everything in balance with a firm structure on the finish.
I enjoyed the wine with pork cutlets BBQ over glowing red gum charcoal as the meat has a mild flavour and the tannins in the wine work with the smokey hints.

The Bon vivant.

If you are a Pinot Noir drinker, this is a good replacement if you are looking for something a little different and rustic with your meal.
