In the glass a normal-looking lemon-tinged wight wine nothing really jumping out or unusual.
Then you get the glass to your nose and the magic of real Albarino kicks in.
On the nose, this wine was like a punch in the face. Big, bold, pungent all in the first sniff. Then it enters the mouth and a smile spread across my face this is the most stunning Albarino I have tasted in years.
Lemon confection, fresh ginger root and a splash of exotic green lemons tossed into the mix. All are dominated by a clean mineral wash adding to the structure and texture of this wine.
I personally found the mouth-wateringly delicious. And will be my benchmark for Albarino from this day forward.
Mind you at $150.00 it would want to be good!
But that’s the difference between fine wine and the everyday bottles we get to drink.
