The NDIS provides eligible participants with up to $221,000 for support services and assistance over their lifetime. These funds can be accessed as a direct payment to an NDIS provider or through an NDIS plan provider. However, not all service providers are able to accept NDIS funding. NDIS participants should check what services and supports they are able to access before finalizing their NDIS plan. Here is the list of services and supports that you can access with your NDIS funding:

Transportation

If you require assistance getting to and from your medical appointments or other activities, you can access transportation supports. These include:

Van or car hire: You may be able to hire a van or car for use in a specific period of time (e.g. for a trip).

Taxi vouchers: If you live in an area where taxis are accessible, you may be able to access taxi vouchers.

Car modifications: If your wheelchair will not fit in a standard car, you may be able to access modifications to your car.

Public transport: If getting to appointments or activities by public transport is more accessible, you may be able to access a pass or a Go Card to help cover the costs.

Wheelchair assistance: If you need help with a wheelchair, you may be able to access assistance. Other types of assistance: Depending on your situation, you may be able to access other types of assistance to help you get to your appointments and activities.

Housing Supports

If you are looking for a new home, you may be able to access the following housing supports: – Modifications to your home

If you need assistance with building or modifying your home to be more accessible, you may be able to get assistance.

Bailiff Repayment Scheme: If you are experiencing financial difficulty as a result of having a bailiff in your home, you may be able to access assistance with repaying the debt.

Rent assistance: This amount can be used to help cover rent, mortgage payments, or other housing-related expenses.

Repairs: NDIS may cover the cost of repairs if your disability or health condition has impacted your home.

Other housing assistance: Depending on your situation, you may be able to access other assistance to help with moving into a new home.

Equipment Supports

Depending on your situation, you may be able to access the following equipment supports.

Modifications or repairs to a wheelchair, walker, or other assistive devices: If your existing devices need maintenance or have become unusable, NDIS may cover the cost of repairs or modifications. New wheelchair: If your wheelchair has become unusable, NDIS may cover the cost of replacing it with a new one.

Visual aids: If you need equipment to help you read or engage more fully in daily activities, you may be able to access visual aids.

Telecommunications equipment: If you need assistance with telecommunications equipment, such as a computer or software, NDIS may cover the cost.

Other equipment: Depending on your situation, you may be able to access other equipment, such as hearing aids.

Employment Supports

There are a range of supports that can assist people with disabilities to get and keep a job. Depending on your situation, you may be able to access the following employment supports.

Job coaching: An employment specialist will help you learn new skills, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and set achievable goals.

Disability management training: This training is designed to help you manage your health condition so that it does not affect your ability to work.

Disability awareness training: You will learn about the experiences of people with different types of disabilities.

Disability Integration at Work: This program helps businesses integrate people with disabilities into the workplace.

Disability Mentoring: A mentor with experience in your industry will help you learn from their expertise.

Disability Representation: Professionals with experience in your industry will help you engage with government officials and other people in the community.

Vocational assessment: An NDIS provider will assess your strengths and skills to determine which job is right for you.

Supported employment: This employment option provides ongoing support to help you succeed in your job.

Other employment supports: Depending on your situation, you may be able to access other supports that can help you get or keep a job.

NDIS Assistance Service

The NDIS Assistance Service is a 24/7 help line that can provide information, referrals, and assistance to help you navigate your NDIS plan. It can be consulted when choosing a disability worker as well as the following services. 

General information: You can use the Assistance Service to get general information about NDIS, the NDIS plan development process, and other NDIS topics.

Plan service information: You can get information about how a specific NDIS plan service provider operates and how they can help you.

Plan complaints: You can report service issues, such as poor quality, lack of communication, or missed appointments through the Assistance Service.

Plan complaint mediation: If you and your NDIS plan provider do not reach an agreement, you can use the mediation scheme to resolve your complaint.

Plan disputes: If you disagree with the NDIS decision about your plan, you can use the Assistance Service to make a complaint.

Plan directions: If a person with a plan is in crisis and their responsible authority is not responding, you can call the Assistance Service for help.

NDIS review: You can request a review of your plan if you feel it does not meet your needs.

Plan review mediations: If you and your NDIS plan provider do not reach an agreement, you can use mediation to resolve your dispute.

Plan review dispute: If you disagree with the NDIS decision about your plan, you can use the Assistance Service to make a complaint.

Plan review directions: If a person with a plan is in crisis and their responsible authority is not responding, you can call the Assistance Service for help.

NDIS Companion Service

Companions may help with day-to-day activities, such as getting dressed, going to the doctor, or grocery shopping. They may also help to build participation in the person’s community, such as volunteering, attending social events, or taking part in hobbies.

Individual Support Plan: If you have an Individual Support Plan, the NDIS may cover the cost of an NDIS companion.

Group Activities: If you are participating in an NDIS group activity, the NDIS may cover the cost of an NDIS companion.

NDIS Flexible Funding: If you receive Flexible Funding, you can use the money to pay for a companion.

NDIS Support Package

The NDIS Support Package is a coordinated range of supports designed to address a person’s identified needs. Empowering NIDS service providers and plan managers, NDIS client management software seamlessly allows for the tracking and management of their clients, fostering efficiency and precision in every aspect of their operations. Support packages are developed by an NDIS planner and may include supports such as the following:

  • Assistance with budgeting and financial management.
  • Disability management
  • Employment assistance
  • Information and communication technology
  • Legal assistance
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Specialist equipment
  • Transportation
  • Volunteering
