Just in case you haven’t caught on, I have been drinking a lot of Italian grape varieties from the Heathcote area of late, clearly because I am happy with the Italianate style coming from the Heathcote vineyards.
This Sangiovese is no exception, with fruit grown at the foot of the Mount Camel Range. Showing a mix of black and red cherries on the nose and moving to the palate.
It washes the palate with Italian flavours of cherries and dried herbs, wrapped around notes of tar and American oak.
This wine is worthy of some time in the cellar as I believe it will age well and evolve as a good Tuscan Sangiovese would.
I enjoyed this wine with Pork Tenderloin with a light Spicy Soy Glaze on a bed of creamy mash and pan-fried shallots.
