Narkoojee, from the local indigenous people translates to – Place of flowers.
The wine is matured in older French oak barriques. A barrique, a small traditional oak barrel, 225lt.
The oak used does not get the same attention as the quality of grapes used in the making of wine.
However the choice of oak barrel used is just as important as the winemaking process.
In the Glass: A shimmer of Pale golden straw glows from the core of this wonderfull Gippsland Chardonnay.
Nose: White stone fruit with citrus, with a faint hint of the oak used in the making of yet another outstanding vintage of Lily Grace.
Resulting in a Chardonnay with a good whack of mineral and acidity that flow through to the bright clean finish on the back plate with just a touch of creaminess as you swallow the final drop.
I enjoyed this wine with a simple meal of Wandilla pork and apple sausages on a bed of buttery mashed potatoes.
The acid and minerals were the perfect foil to the pork and apple sausages.
