leicashow news xmas 2022

Hello once again Leicashow friends!

Just time for some quick final news for 2022 as we’ll be starting the new year off with a bang with some legends and some legendary tribute shows. So here goes!

January kicks off with a long-time favourite – Atlanta Coogan’s brilliant Amy Winehouse Show at the Palais Hepburn Springs on Saturday Jan 14 – before we present the premiere of something new: A brilliant Tom Petty show entitled Learning to Fly at Memo Music Hall in St Kilda on Saturday January 21 with an all-star vocal cast – Rebecca Barnard, Nick Barker, Sal Kimber, the Huxton Creepers’ Rob Craw and up and coming singer/songwriter Georgia Knight – and a bunch of well-seasoned Petty freaks comprising the band. In addition to those two shows, we’re pleased to present rock’n’roll royalty Russell Morris and his great band at The Memo in Healesville for the first time on Saturday January 28.

The legends keep coming in Feb; indeed, we could call February our legends month.

We kick the month of with a couple of weekends’ worth of shows from Ross Wilson – Warrnambool Feb 4 and Narre Warren Feb 5, then Devenport Feb 9, Launceston Feb 10 and Hobart Feb 11. Ross and his great band are doing his ‘Eagle Rock’ 50th anniversary thing. (You know Tom Petty was a big Daddy Cool fan yeah? Check out Heartbreakers’ keyboard player Benmont Tench performing “Come Back Again” on YouTube!)

We’ve also got a Frankston/Narre Warren/Horsham Feb 10/11/12 weekend run for Richard Clapton, and a Healesville/Warragul/Frankston run for Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows.

We have more Ross Wilson shows in March – Upwey, Sale and Warragul on March 3/4/5.

Moving to May we are pleased to announce a weekend of dates – in Healesville, Sale and Warragul on May 5/6/7 – from Laura Davidson and her All-Star Bands superb show Superstar: The Carpenters Songbook. Laura is as versatile as she is capable – she’s toured the world with Bjôrn Again, playing Frida, and she’s also appeared in The Spicy Girls as Sporty Spice and up front of AC/DSHE as the leading lady Bonnie Scott! She has a great love for jazz, pop and all things rock and has been likened to the late great Shirley Strachan after performing for a number of years up front of Bongo Starkie’s Million Dollar Riff Skyhooks show.

The complete list of upcoming shows, with ticket links, follows. Don’t forget your artists still need your support, so please get out to a show or two.

Have a great Xmas and a fun and safe NYE, best wishes for 2023, and we’ll see you ’round the traps.
