MELBA BIG BAND performs 2 shows ar Newport Jazz festival 12pm at the Community Hub and 5pm at the Bowling club
Melba Big band was established in 2018 by Pianist Catherine Conner with five saxophones four trombones four trumpets and a three piece rhythm section as a vehicle for female musicians of all ages The band have played knock out shows at The Jazz Lab , MEMO Music Hall, 303, Dizzys, Melbourne Bowling Club, St Kilda RSL, MOJO Big Band Sunset Festival , Castlemaine & Newport Jazz Festivals Led by Tenor saxophonist Justine Jones since 2019, These ladies perform the best of the vintage big band era with a dash of the modern.
