LEAH SENIOR – THE BURES BAND – WINTER McQUINN

April 24 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

**Leah Senior – The Bures Band – Winter McQuinn**
Public Holiday Eve
Folk-rockers of Melbourne unite! April 24th at the Brunswick Ballroom will be a celebration of country-tinged psychedelia, soft rock and timeless, pure hearted songwriting.
Coming off the back of their national tour supporting Wilco, Leah Senior and her band will be performing songs from their acclaimed release The Music That I Make (Poison City, 2023) as well as showcasing brand new material before heading back to the USA in June.
“Possessing a timeless quality, The Music That I Make gleans from decades old songwriting traditions encompassing folk, psych rock and AM radio pop styles, ultimately delivered with the sort of auteur storytelling that places the album in its own universe. Like so much great songwriting, The Music That I Make feels equal parts confessional and universal, each song imbued with a sensitivity running through them.” – Triple R Album of the week.
“These songs are unhurried and deliberate, Senior’s voice mostly accompanied by acoustic guitar and lilting piano with subtle flourishes throughout. It’s all that’s needed: Senior is such an expressive singer, the storytelling of her inner and outer world so rich, that the result is immediately disarming.”- NME
“Leah Senior, more than many of her peers, truly embraces the spiraling introspection of Mitchell, King, Sill, and Crosby, though her wistfulness sometimes recalls the further flung shores of Bridget St. John and Sibylle Baier. Her first few albums dabbled with pop, falling just in the shadows of some of the ‘70s chasers of late, but on The Music That I Make, Senior shakes off any hint of pastiche.” – Raven Sings The Blues
Leah Senior will be joined by Perth up-and-comers The Bures Band as part of a national tour to celebrate their brand new single. ‘The Pilot’ is a timeless classic showcasing gorgeous four part harmonies, effortless jangle and a catchy chorus. The single follows on from their folk rock retro-revivalist album “Birds Nest”.
“Birds Nest is a laid back, mellow & melodic fusion of the aforementioned genres (Americana, folk and rock ‘n’ roll) through a modern lens, with both the single and accompanying stylised performance video truly timeless.” -Pilerats
Also on the bill is Melbourne darling Winter McQuinn along with his friends. Perhaps known as the frontman of Sunfruits and as the drummer for Jade Imagine, Winter McQuinn’s solo music explores psychedelic country and folk rippling with a free-ness similar to Nick Drake, Syd Barrett, Kevin Ayers and more modern 70s soft rock purveyors like Michael Rault and Drugdealer. Winter McQuinn’s new solo venture ‘Move To The Trees’ promises to follow on from where he left off with Rabble Of Bees except this time with a more focused and refined approach into 70s soft rock and folk.
