Introduction to Solar Plate Etching with Lisa Sewards and Trudy Rice

June 15 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm AEST

As part of our ‘Ink It Up’ initiative, supported by Bayside City Council
As part of our ‘Ink It Up’ initiative, supported by Bayside City Council, Bayley Arts is excited to welcome professional Printmakers Lisa Sewards and Trudy Rice to our studios. This is a special one-off hands-on workshop in a small sized class where you’ll discover the magical world of Solar Plate Etching.
This non-toxic intaglio etching process uses the sun’s natural UV (or a UV lightbox) and water rather than harmful acids and solvents to create remarkable results. Both artists have worked with this medium for over a decade.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to transform your hand drawn image onto a metal backed photopolymer plate, ink the plate using etching inks, hand pull your print on Bayley Arts’ beautiful etching press onto cotton rag printmaking papers, creating a small edition to take home.
Take this amazing opportunity to be inspired and unlock your creativity with Solar Plate Etching. Suitable for ages 16 years and over for both beginners and printmakers who are yet to work with non-toxic plates.
Be quick to get your ticket, limited numbers. This workshop is supported by Bayside City Council. What to bring
All materials will be provided including two etching plates but please wear closed shoes, and bring along an apron or wear an old shirt. Your drawing to etch will be a simple line drawing – ideas will be offered or bring your personal sketchbook or reference images.
