ANGEL MONSTER

4 – 14 february at theatre works

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ‘Unmissable!’ – Everywhere Theatre

ANGEL MONSTER is powerful full-femme-full-bodied dance-theatre from one of Queensland’s most prolific award-winning dance artists Phluxus2 Dance Collective, and choreographed by Nerida Matthaei.

Explosive choreography ignites and combusts as an army of dancers wrestle inside in a visceral conversation where the agenda is Equality, Ownership and Respect. Angel Monster is a crash-tackle, a requiem and a call to arms for sisters, mothers, angels and monsters alike.

2025 EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

major projects + festival works
APPLICATIONS CLOSE MON 26 FEB

Theatre Works is thrilled to announce an open call for expressions of interest (EOI) from artists and producers. This year, we’re casting our net wide, seeking ambitious new projects that dream big. Whether your work requires extensive lead times, is primed for funding opportunities, or is a potential VCE Playlist masterpiece, we want to hear from you.

In addition, we’re celebrating diversity and innovation through our Midsumma Festival programming, spotlighting LGBTQIA+ makers and stories, and our Sooo Fresh Summer Fest, dedicated to showcasing the talents of exceptional early-career artists.

We’ve streamlined our initial EOI process to be as simple as possible, understanding that your time is precious. While shortlisted applicants will later need to provide comprehensive project pitches—including budgets, timelines, and plans for marketing and accessibility—you’re welcome to submit these materials now to strengthen your application.

Why so early?

In a conscious effort to better support our artistic community, we’re launching our call for EOIs earlier than usual. We recognise the challenges that programming timelines can pose to artists, at times limiting their ability to fully develop and fund their works. By opening our inboxes now, we aim to give you the space and time needed to bring your creative visions to life, with Theatre Works as your supportive venue partner.

Key Dates: EOIs are now open, with a closing deadline of 10 am, Monday 26th February.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of our vibrant, diverse lineup of projects. And for those who need a bit more time, rest assured—there’ll be another opportunity to throw your hat in the ring later in the year.
