The Winterfriends are a progressive adult-contemporary pop-rock quintet based in Elwood. Founded by lyricist & performance artist Phaedra with the late bassist/guitarist Steven White in 2013, The Winterfriends have entertained the public at various Victorian festivals & Melbourne venues since their launch at St Kilda fest’s Live N Local in 2014. Recently relaunching at LiveNLocal Winterfest they are delighted to present “the Winterfriends’ present – Live @the Wickers” indie music pop up concert series at Brighton’s newest cool local music venue, The Wickers Club @170 Glenhuntly Rd, Brighton.
Ranging from indie-folk to post-punk influences, The Winterfriends’ original varied compositions are reminiscent of commercially successful pop-rock outfits like Fleetwood Mac, Crowded House, Heart & Veruka Salt. - Accomplished singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalistNick Economou – Nick brings his ‘Scissor Sisters’ disco-infused bass to The Winterfriends’
- Accomplished multi-instrumentalist Justin Dakin – an exceptional lead guitarist, Justin brings a progressive blues-rock flavour to The Winterfriends’ original compostions.
- Established percussionist Rhys Hinrichsen – a stalwart of Melbourne’s funk & rock scenes in the 80-90’s, Rhys is the newest Winterfriend joining the current line-up in September.
