The unfortunate thing about most of my customers for The Bogan Shiraz, is the fact none of them would ever age this wine beyond. Buy it, whip the top off, and drink it that night.
They are like most of today’s wine drinkers. Never got the chance to experience the absolute quality and longevity of this wine and many more like it.
In the glass, this wine is as black as the hobs of Hell with a flicker of red on black around the rim.
On the nose, the wine offers cherry and dark berries wrapped in a little oak, however, there is still good ageing red fruit holding everything together.
In the mouth, the silky smooth tannins twisted around vanillin oak that momentary glimpses of liquorice and cherry spice.
This was twice the wine I remembered it to be. I remember Bogan to be a big bold take no prisoner Shiraz.
It is not surprising that 9 years have tamed this wine and yet showed no real signs of slowing down either.
